Lee Deneen
Senior Counsel
Lee draws on his substantial experience—as an attorney at Alston & Bird and in-house counsel at The Home Depot—to advise clients in real estate and other industries. Lee counsels clients on the front end as deals are negotiated and closed, and on the back end to the extent that litigation or other disputes arise.

Lee has a decade of experience advising clients through some of their most complex and high-stakes matters. Lee’s current and former clients cover the waterfront, ranging from Fortune 20 companies to institutional investors, developers, landlords, tenants, and more. In commercial real-estate matters, Lee helps guide his clients through deals across many types of asset classes and value ranges. Outside of real-estate transactions, clients have also looked to Lee for problem-solving guidance in various other types of matters, including contract negotiations, construction disputes, internal and external investigations, and regulatory-compliance issues.
Lee began his career by clerking for a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, where he assisted the judge in appeals of civil cases and criminal convictions. Lee then worked in Atlanta at the international law firm Alston & Bird, where he focused his practice on litigation and arbitration across the country. Lee’s experience included several matters that reached the U.S. Supreme Court, and his work touched on many sectors, including manufacturing, finance, technology, healthcare, and retail. Lee is admitted to the Georgia Bar, all levels of the state courts of Georgia, and many federal courts in Georgia and elsewhere.
After Alston & Bird, Lee served The Home Depot as in-house counsel at its Atlanta headquarters. At Home Depot, Lee managed and advised on many of the company’s most complex matters, including real-estate disputes, supplier disputes, class-action litigation, cybersecurity issues, and investigations. Lee also advised Home Depot’s government-relations team on legislative and policy matters involving the company, including those affecting its real-property interests.
Lee lived all over growing up, moving between South Carolina, San Francisco, and the south of France. For Lee’s undergraduate studies, he attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he graduated summa cum laude. Lee then attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served in leadership on the Georgia Law Review and graduated first in his class.
Lee and his wife Ella are grateful to have three young kids. Lee’s kids fill up most of his free time, and he loves to hike, fish, hunt, and otherwise enjoy the outdoors with his family. Lee also serves in leadership at his church, Brookhaven Presbyterian Church, and he serves on the board of the nonprofit Center for Global Strategies. Lee is fluent in French.
